Trump”s great wall. What does the Bible say about walls?
This may be a good opportunity to discuss languages and boundaries (borders) and who is responsible for their existence. Yes, you may already know – the one responsible is God and He has His reasons.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: “Borders define geographic boundaries of political entities or legal jurisdictions, such as governments, sovereign states, federated states, and other subnational entities. Some borders—such as a state’s internal administrative border, or inter-state borders within the Schengen Area—are open and completely unguarded. Other borders are partially or fully controlled, and may be crossed legally only at designated border checkpoints and border zones may be controlled. Some, mostly contentious, borders may even foster the setting up of buffer zones.”
In Gen 11:7-9, God confounded the languages and scattered the people throughout the earth. The answer why is found in Gen 11:6, “And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.”
Now consider Deu 32:8-9, “8) When the most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds (borders) of the people according to the number of the children of Israel. 9) For the LORD’S portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.” If Deu 32:9, is not clear it will become clear when one has a better understanding of Jacob / Israel.
In Deuteronomy Chapter 2, God gave Israel instructions to honor existing borders during their wilderness walk. Also note who gave the land to Israel’s neighbors: Acts 17:26, “And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds (borders) of their habitation;”
Know that it was God who divided the promised land for the tribes of Israel. (The Book of Joshua.) Joshua 14:2, says, “By lot was their inheritance, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine tribes, and for the half tribe.”
Consider this: If there was only one language and no borders under a one-world government, (for example, Nazi Germany or Islam and Shari law), you would not have enjoyed the freedoms presently enjoyed by the people of the Western Nations. To keep this freedom it may be necessary to keep our borders secure by stopping or restricting people of radical religion, and keep to suppressive laws out; it is a form of cancer that will eventually kill us. What I am about to say may offend some readers – please stay with me to the end. You may think that radical Islam is not according to the Koran; but it is. I have read the the Koran in its entirety and suggest you do the same, in order to “know your enemy.” Also know that Islam’s goal is to “convert” the world – yes the world – or kill the “infidels” (non-believers of Islam. You and me.)
It might seem that borders were created to separate people of different political, religious, and governing beliefs. Well they were. It is very plausible that God wants His people to be separated from the rest of the world and obey His government rules and not the world’s (man’s) laws. Right now, we are in the wilderness awaiting the Messiah to set up his kingdom in Jerusalem. I can’t wait for that glorious day. Meantime, God’s kingdom needs to be in our hearts.
Borders are necessary and good; we need to protect and respect them.
